Artist Statement

Today, we are surrounded by a particular constant: technology. For all of us, it is a constant buzz in our ear, demanding our undivided attention. It has become our new orifice, a mouth that is constantly swallowing new ideas and information at a rate that causes many to feel as though they are choking on all of it.

Information’s overwhelming tendencies is something I try to sort out in my work. I enjoy working through issues that arise from this new technological age by utilizing the allegory. As a result, I tend to work mostly with the figure and create narratives by weaving in external societal pressures and dysfunctions from the hair as extensions of their person.
